Chanaux & Pelletier Newspaper Rack
A fine, large-scale newspaper rack beautifully manufactured by Chanaux and Pelletier - Paris. Constructed from limed oak and woven cane work, with decorative inlaid bronze detailing and four sabot feet.
Adolphe Chanaux (1887-1965) trained as a cabinetmaker in the workshops of André Groult prior to establishing his own atelier in partnership with Gilbert Pelletier in the 1920s. They are best known for collaborating with the most celebrated designers of the Art Deco era, including Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, Marcel Coard, Eugène Printz and Jean-Michel Frank.
Stamped with the CP monogram to the underside. French, c. 1930.
