French 19th Century Earthenware Glaze Drip Trays

A fantastic collection of 19th century patinated earthenware drip trays or saucers. These utilitarian pieces were originally placed between stacked confit pots in the kiln, in order to collect any excess glaze that ran off during the firing process. Sold for their ‘accidentally abstract’ decorative merit - well suited as centrepieces or fruit bowls. French, c. 1850.
