Japanese Sakiori Harness
A traditional Taisho period harness, which would have been worn on the back in order for heavy baskets/items to hang from. Woven with natural fibres and discarded fabric, using a technique called ‘sakiori’. A utilitarian piece sold for its decorative merit, to be hung as a piece of wall art. Japanese, c. 1920.
