Large Stapled Jar from Ciudad Real
A large 18th century statement earthenware jar, heavily patinated with characterful iron staple repairs and many layers of distressed paint to its slightly misshapen form - the result of a fault when originally fired in the kiln. Most likely used for the storage of water. From the province of Ciudad Real in Castilla-La Mancha. Spanish, c. 1750.
